Sibailly Maximilien Douhoure
I joined StreetNet in January 2009. I am Organiser for Africa and Educator. I am responsible for all African affiliates of StreetNet, as well as the workers’ education programme for the whole organisation. I am based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
I am Ivoirian. I was born on June 2nd 1951 in Cote d’Ivoire. I graduated as an engineer of telecommunications. I worked as a Chief Engineer for 10years in that national company of communications in Cote d’Ivoire. I also was trade unionist and from 1989 onwards I was involved in the international trade union movement successively in International Postal, Telegraph and Telephones (PTTI) and Union Network International (UNI). Between 2005 and 2008 I worked as a freelance consultant around social activities in Dakar, Senegal and in Abidjan and have been involved in the activities of informal economy.
I meet StreetNet International at the end of my time in UNI. I started to do some education work for StreetNet affiliates in West Africa on Freelance basis, and in 2009 I was hired by StreetNet and an organiser. In 2013 my position was upgraded to Organiser/Educator.
I would like to serve on the IFWEA Executive Committee as an ordinary Executive Member to contribute my experience of education and training workers in the Informal Economy, to expand my worker Education networks and to learn more about study circles which I am currently developing in StreetNet.
