ARE YOU PART OF THE GLOBAL WORKFORCE?
A CHECKLIST FOR WORKERS

• Who owns your factory or office? Is it part of a corporation?
• Does the corporation have activities in other countries?
• Does the corporation sub-contract to foreign manufacturers?
• Who are your employer's major competitors? Do they have production facilities in other countries or sub-contract to foreign manufacturers? (If they do, this will increase the pressure on your employer to do the same.)
• Are there labour-intensive parts of the production process in your company which could be relocated to a lower wage country?
• What information do you have about the wages and conditions, or health and safety standards, at your employer's workplaces in other countries?
• What information do you have about the unionisation of workers in those workplaces abroad? Is your union in contact with those unions? What could be done to build better contact?
