Summary of Session 3

Study Circle SWE1 (Ola Niclason)

Hello!

Thank You everyone who sent in messages for interesting reading.

In general the TNC roam the world because of:

In Sweden we have a well function trade union system that look after the agreements between the government and the TNC. But the influence of the trade unions is decreasing.

We have to day a national headline about a French TNC company "Rohn Poulenc" who produce chemical product "Roca Gil" for Tunnelconstruction. This chemical is very poisonous. Due to the chemical is a big area in south west Sweden contaminated and the community has stopped the construction. The animals have been poisoned and the worker have symptom of this chemical. TNC company has now stopped Roca Gil all over the world. A committee have been founded to investigate the affair.

The wages in Sweden is medium comparing to the European market. The safety and health standards are relatively high but as we all have mention this is a factor that is decreasing.

We have a big market for products mainly. Our valuable rawmaterials do not belong to TNC.

The government do not offer incentives in a big extension.

In our country our own TNC often threaten the government to establish in other countrys if they doesn't agree on the purpose.

At the End of this session we would like to thank Alana for her idea to summary the session. It takes to long time to read the reports from every group.

Looking forward to hear from You all.

Ola , Karl-Eric and Michael. 1997-10-21
