Summary of Session 6

Study Circle SWE1 (Ola Niclason)

Dear friends!

Here comes a late answer to summary 6.

Why international solidarity?

The alternative rule of conduct, the rule that TNCīs put into practice,is terrible in itīs utmost consequence. This can even cause war! An example of international solidarity you can find far back in the thirties, the civil war in Spain, where voluntary soldiers from other countries participated. In the world today itīs hard to find good examples.Mainly is the purpose to protect own interestīs either it concern nations or companies.

International solidarity driven by Trade unions has a long history, and there is many dedicated persons in the list. But their tools have been blunt and the resistance powerful. And the struggle is not over yet!

How to regulate TNC?

To restrict the rules that TNCīs has established is not possible voluntary. The same thing may be said of international regulation between nations as long as thereīs no convention ratifyed by all.

The Trade unions have to develop their international work and intensify their strain in countries where the workers has the worst conditions.

Greetings from Michael and Karl-Eric
