Hello Friends!
What we today have discussed is that we haven't any "Bad" TNC's in our close neigbourhood, so we feel that we must "rise our eyes" to find a adequate example. It's true that we have "TNC" local like ABB factory, IKEA MALL and SHELL Gastations, but we don't think that it's any reason to act against them except the habit to not fill up with gasoline from SHELL.
We think that all very good information for each of You how have described local conditions is usefule for us to have a clear picture of the reality in some
"TNC's" behaviour. We have read in our local paper that "NIKE" exploit Vietnames people for manufacturing sport shoes. They work for ten US dollar / week
= 65 hours. It's disgusting!!!!!!!!.
Michael Jordan earns as much as 20.000 workers in Vietnam per year for commercial.
We have in the locals of LO- Växjö an writers club how weekly write about injustice in the community as well as the world. They write letters-to- the-editor column. (Karl-Eric is a powerful member). We feel that our local trade unions is weak to act in moulding of public opinion.
The local trade unions are so busy to solwe the local problems, salery, unemployment and environmental problems.
The ILO are one and also the different trade unions international organisations have the commission and SEKO the trade union that we belongs to work more in the international activity.
A good development of the international solidarity is above all is to illuminate common people about the disproportions in TNC around the world and that avoid buying their products.
Ps Listen to Bob Dylans song " Union Sundown" on the record Infidels.
In Solidarity
OLA and Karl-Eric.
