Study Circle SWE1 (Ola Niclason)


Preparation for the study circle:

1. How were you informed about the purpose of the international study circle, and was this satisfactory?

We where informed by WEA in Stockholm if we would like to participate in this program. A little longer time for preparation had been useful.

2. How was the recruitment process carried out, and can it be improved?

Friends to the facilitator where drafted.

Structure of the course:

3. What are your views on the structure of the course?

It has been to large subject and the evaluations from the summaries has been from some of the groups to much deviation. Due to our lack of time in our meetings( 3 hours/week) Have felt that we have been unable to go thru every summaries properly.

4. How were you able to make links and connections between the different sessions?

We haven't been able to make links and connections between the sessions. The subject has direct our work

5. Are there any sessions which should be expanded?

No.

6. Are there any sessions which should be shortened?

Yes. Everyone.

Content of the course:

7. How did the course meet your expectations?

We didn't knew this way to work with a studycircle. The subject where known by us and we have liked to work with the subject.

8. What did you like and not like about the course?

The subject has been interesting but far to wide and the knowledge about the other groups activities has been useful in our own discussions.

9. How did the course help you understand TNCs in your country and beyond?

We have got new inputs from the other countries in this studycircle.

10. What were the gaps in the course content?

11. How did you gain an understanding of global issues, rather than simply local and national perspectives?

12. What problems did you experience in the course?

We have felt that the summaries from some of the countries have been to much to get into. Alanas summaries could have been useful.

Education materials and resources:

13. What did you like about the education materials, and what were the problems?

We feel that there is a need to develop the materials in more structural form and minor parts.

14. Where did you get the resources which you needed?

15. How can the resources provided by the course be improved?

Learning methods:

16. What did you like and not like about the way in which the course was run?

The best part of the course are that we thru Internet has get in touch with participants from other countries. We have missed Alanas summaries.

17. What was the benefit of having activities between sessions?

None

18. How would you describe the relationship between the members of your study circle?

Old mates.

19. What were the problems in your group?

In Sweden the estimate time of a studycircle is three hours/ meeting.

The facilitator:

20. What did you like about the role of the facilitator?

It has been very interesting and developing.

21. What did you not like about the role of the facilitator?

Using the Internet:

22. What did you learn from the exchange between the different study circles?

That we work with in the studycircle method in different ways and that the time for meeting is different between the countries.

23. What were the gaps/problems in the exchange between the different study circles?

We feel that there is a need for personal contact between one or two groups to sustain and develop information.

24. How useful is the Internet as a tool of communication for study circle education?

This is a new method in development that we think is a useful link between countries and a fast communication instrument for instant action.

25. How can it be improved to make it more useful?

There is a need for education of practical handling for the operator in how to use the computer.

It has been interesting to meet everyone in the course.

27. What new skills did you acquire from the course?

28. How can the study circle result in concrete action and solidarity either at a local, national or international level?

29. How can local and international solidarity be strengthened?

By knowledge of our excistens.

30. What suggestions do you have for the continuation of the project?

Trade union issues, constitution by laws in trade unions. The workpiece should be minor and partnership between one or two countries is a need for friendship.
