[Prepatory meeting] [Session1] [Session 2] [Session 3] [Session 4] [Session 5] [Session 6]

We held our fourth session on April 23th

We were again 10 persons, Joel JAMET and I.

We discovered the mail from Alana and other ISCs.

We appreciated, in particular, the message from Tiia about cinema in Estonia, the English one about General Motors and the report from Bulgaria.

For speaking about the means, for citizens, to resist to abuses of TNC’, we had invited a friend from my association, working with the " Clean clothes campaign ". The new name of the campaign in France is  " Ethics on tickets ! " (we say " étiquette " for ticket, in French).

They don’t believe in self control by TNCs and require independent structures to control how clothes are produced (with or without children, trade unions, safety, nature conservation, etc...). But they don’t yet succeed in this fight.

They admit that some children may work in some cases, if it is indispensable for feeding their family, but these children must not be exploited.

We objected that it should be better that parents work and not children !

We have been very interested in this campaign and it is possible that, later, some of us will take part in. A success for our ISC !

Then, Joel Jamet gave an account of the history and strategy of the French petroleum company Elf. It’s a shame for a national French company to have develop such corruption and political manipulation, especially in France and Africa.

But we admitted that an honest company should have been sunk for long by the competition ! The international commercial rules can’t change only in one country. Who will be able to change them ? UNO, public opinion, revolution ... ?

Certainly not the IMF or the World !

Our last meeting has been planned on April 30th. Already ? !

Your, Jean-Dominique
