1) Geraldine Taylor from SACCAWU (South African Commercial & Catering Workers Union ). I have been a shopsteward for this union for the past four years. I work in the retail clothing sector, presently working at Bergers.

My previous union experience is mainly in the union GAWU which became SACTWU as a result of a merger, was for a period of 4 years as a shopsteward. My hobbies are maily outdoor life, socialising, dancingand music....... Geraldine has experience in e.mail and is in the process of learning the Internet.

I am divorced and have 1 child who is named after Che' Guevara and Ashley Kriel, a South African guerills hero killed by the previous regime's police.

Geraldine hopes to gain more experience in E-mail / Internet and to broaden knowledge about international developments through this course.

2) Suleiman Cassiem of the union SAMWU (South African Municipal Workers Union) is employed in the cleansing department. His  experience in the union is approximately 4 years, he is the secretary of the Cleansing Committee and currently the anti-Privatisation Co-ordinator. His hobbies are of a sport. Suleiman has no E-mail / Internet experience but hopes to learn and prosper from the Study Circle. Suleiman is divorced and has one child.

3) Carmencita Motto of the SAWU (South African Woodworkers Union) and has been in their employ for the past two years as an administrator, and recently elected as the SAWU Womens Committee co-ordinator.Her hobbies are playing computer games, outdoor life, nature / animals, cooking , watching movies. Carmencita has little experience in E-mail / Internet. She hopes to learn more about globalisation and TNC's. Carmencita has married recently and has no children.

4) Martin Jansen, one of our faciliators is presently employed as an education officer at TULEC. He has 10 years experience in the Chemical Workers Industrial Union as an organiser/ secretary and educator. His hobbies are reading, films, sports. He is divorced and has one child, a daughter, 9 years old.

5) Heinrich Japhta of SACCAWU and is presently employed at Clicks ( Health / Home and Beauty Retailer ) for the past 4 years. His hobbies are reading, movies, sports and outdoor life.  Heinrich is single and has one child.

 6) Neil Newman our other facilitator, works for the International Labour Research and Information Group (ILRIG) as a researcher and educator. He is divorced and has 2 children (a son and daughter). He likes films and reading.
