On 31st July, 150 people celebrated South Africa’s Trade Union Library and Education Centre's (TULEC) 15th anniversary in style - with poetry, drama and music.

Guest speakers discussed the importance of TULEC and workers’ education for the empowerment of the labour movement.

TULEC has always believed in the importance of cultural activities in trade union education. True to this tradition TULEC's 15th anniversary was celebrated with poetry readings and a short drama from the Duma Theatre Project, a youth group from a working class area called Lavender Hill. Their piece was based on a TULEC News article Challenges facing trade unions.

The celebration was also used to launch TULEC's newest publication The TULEC Organiser's Manual, which contains the latest information on labour laws, model agreements, organising skills as well as brief articles on topical issues such as economic policy, world class manufacturing, casualisation and EPZ's.
